Pity? it was pity what stopped Bilbo's hand. Many who live deserve death and some who die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Don't be too easy to give up death and judges; not even the wise can see all the endings.
My heart tells me that Gollum has a part to play for good or evil before this is over.
